Was this book well done? No. Was the writing and romance cringy and predictable, yes. But was it a fun read? Yeah. I liken this book (and the following books) to a trashy drama tv series - fun to binge and enjoyable, but by no means high quality content or art that will stand the test of time. If you need a “guilty pleasure” fantasy series, this one is compelling enough to keep you reading (as long as you can overlook the tropes used, some cringe, some smut, and some not great writing).
