I didn’t know much about the town of Gander, Newfoundland or what happened in the week following 9/11. I was in high school when that event occurred and so much of the media was focused on NYC & DC and the impending war.

I felt the author did a good job at mixing the accounts up in a way that showed spots of light within the darkness and sadness. I felt connected to people I had never known and that is rare for me to experience while reading a book.
