Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman

2.0

2.5⭐️rounded down. I watched Poltergeist when I was in 5th grade, so maybe that’s why this one didn’t hit for me. There were a couple of creepy scenes with Other Mommy, but I was mostly underwhelmed. I thoroughly enjoyed it up until the 30ish% point. After that we are just moving from location to location (even though they know it follows the kid) and waiting for something to happen. I was bored for the majority of this book. I will say the very end was good. I liked the overarching metaphor of secrets being hurtful when they come out. But really I felt like I had read this book or seen this movie before.

Also, there was no need to go so in depth talking about adult happenings with this child. A few sentences would’ve worked. lol Like the girl has been through enough. She doesn’t need to know every little detail.
