A Door in the Dark by Scott Reintgen
3.0
I would easily give this a 3.5 even a 3.75! I could not put this book down and it frequently got me so wrapped up that I couldn’t hear or focus on anything outside of the story! I enjoyed the book, mourned the deaths as they happened, and enjoyed the characters as they grew/ evolved. The story was fun, the track back was fun, and the magic was fun!
I am suspicious of Ren, sometimes she is normal but more often than not she isn’t. She is someone who is rather selfish, scheming, and close to, not there already, a villain. I enjoy her as the narrator, however I don’t believe she is a reliable narrator and makes me feel for her friends who died at the expense of Ren.
I throughly enjoyed the background side characters in this book! Avy sounded dreamy, Timmons was a great friend, and Cora was reliable and smart! I enjoyed Theo’s growth through the book, starting with someone selfish and spoiled, and ending with someone I enjoyed reading!
I’m not sure I will read book 2 or not but we will see!
