Find You in the Dark by Nathan Ripley
3.0
I'm listing this read as a 3-star title, but I will say it did captivate me and had me hooked, I just really didn't like any of the characters. Is that a thing?
The main protagonist was arrogant, and a bit weird, and I just never gained an affinity for him, the police investigating things were gruff and unlikeable, and there was pretty much nothing included in the story in terms of character development to help me learn to like them more. The wife and daughter of the main character are in the story, but it is hard to get a firm grasp on why they are so angry all the time. I think this novel could have benefitted from some additional backstory or some more substantial character development, and better dialogue between characters.
The overall story was fun though. It reminded me of an episode of Will Trent or some other cop-drama and the aspect of a copycat killer running amuck was neat. I just felt that some of the plot seemed "shallow" and didn't gel well.
I didn't not like the book, it just wasn't the best novel in the genre I've read before.
