I loved this! I see a lot of reviews complaining about the "twist" in the end but honestly? I saw it coming. It was obvious who had to be the traitor and when they turned. It was also obvious why that person had to do what they did. They live with societal standards that we don't hold in todays day and age and thus we have no way in which to gauge how we would behave in similar circumstances.

I enjoy the changes in Beka and loved Farmer. Like many I was confused when the book opened to her burying her betrothed. I couldn't for the life me remember him! Farmer is a wonderful character with so much personality that I'd love to read about solely about him. I'm starting to think Tamora Pierce really likes writing mages as she always writes them best.

I can't wait for the next series set in Tortall.
