“Can i take my time with you gorgeous?”

Moving back to Monroe City is what Dresden & Harper needed. Robbi did a great job of showing Dresden in the stages of mourning after losing the love of his life and Harper in the mist of having to say goodbye soon to her best friend. Grief is never easy and this was well written to give the feels from that aspect.

I enjoyed watching Dresden getting that sprinkle back in his heart the moment he seen Harper. Hell they both had an affect on one another. I am glad they waited to do anything as Harper was being the caretaker for her ex husband. Their story wasn’t all peaches n cream like Dresden and his wife. However, that was still her best friend and being there for him was important.

Now, i wish we got to the romance/chemistry between the two sooner. To let them really build with words & action. Like around 75-80% things really popped off with them. I would have rather it started at the 40-45% mark moving the timeline up to give us time to be with them through this journey of love. Once the epilogue came then boom we’re years ahead getting all these updates without having the chance as a reader to experience it. I wanted to know about that relationship that was forming (you’ll know once you get there). The blending of the families. As well as the oldest son and what he had going on. I wish certain things weren’t written about.

I listened via audio on Libby and the only thing missing was a narrator for Harper. All in all this was a decent book. If you like books that are slow burns, dealing with loss, black professionals, & love after loss then give it a chance.

Side note: Harper could have put that snapper on that man one last time before he got called home to be with the Lord.
