Zora Books Her Happy Ever After by Taj McCoy

3.0

 Okay! I have some thoughts.

I was intrigued by this book because it’s not one I’d normally pick up - I don’t like love triangles and this one spells out the love triangle in the title: indie bookstore owner + a writer + writer’s grumpy best friend. The issue to me is it’s so obvious from page 1 who she’s going to pick because one guy is clearly so, so wrong for her… just wrong in general.

I guessed at the ghostwriting within the first few chapters. The insecurity and insincerity Lawrence showed just made me be like, “Zora, why are you still entertaining him!?” It was the build up she’d had of enjoying his books.

I know that she was openly dating both men so they were both okay with her sleeping with each of them but… I don’t love that in my romance. I want my MCs committed and working on their relationship. Because there were two guys arguing and her splitting time between them and her store… there wasn’t enough “relationship building.”
