Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
5.0
I can't even begin to express how much I loved this book???? I mean-- the representation??? The diversity!??? The plot!????????!!??? Listen: if you aren't into sciencey things (I'm not), still give this one a go. The first few bits are sort of hard to get through but once you do, you'll be grateful. The plot is so good. It's SO well written, and it's so SMART, and in typical Mira Grant style it's absolutely terrifying. It's also full of representation?? Multiple LGBT people (who DON'T die), autism diversity, POC diversity, body type diversity, disability diversity... I guess I should have expected that because it's Mira Grant, but to be honest I'm so unused to seeing good rep in scifi I just didn't expect it.
I'm not saying anything about the plot because I don't want to give anything away, but seriously, SERIOUSLY, read this book. If you like horror, if you like the ocean, if you like scifi, if you like diversity in your characters, read it.
Anyway, 5/5, probably one of the best books I've read this year.
