I wasn’t sure at first if I was going to enjoy this book beyond a feminist retelling of Greek mythology. The writing switches between Stheno’s first person perspective and Eurydale’s third person perspective which I found strange. The writing is interesting, but also mundane, which isn’t bad necessarily. It made the reading experience easy. However, by the end I was compelled by the tragedy of it all and actually cried at the conclusion. Ultimately, this is a version of Medusa and her sisters’ story that will stay with me for a long time.
Graphic: Death, Rape, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, and Murder
Moderate: Sexism and Suicide
Minor: Homophobia and Lesbophobia
