I know I’ve said this before, but Stephano is my favorite book boyfriend. This guy is such a champion of women, defending their honor, protecting them and just loving them. He made my heart swoon. Now this is the second book in the Il Consiglio Scalera - A Mafia Dynasty and you need to read the first book to understand what is going on. Because I read the first book and I was a little confused initially until I recalled what happened in the first book. Stephano is a guy who witnessed his father beating up his mother and then telling him he has the same hateful, mean bullying traits that he has. So Stephano has tried hard to control himself and not be abusive and he practices some weird boxing matches in a gym he owns. He is all about control. Now Gigi on the other hand is a mafia princess who has tried to remove herself from that lifestyle. She runs her own business refuses to marry a mafia man and has really become quite independent. Now when these two first meet and get together it’s explosive. But, Stephano has decided he will never marry and Gigi refuses to date or be involved with mafia men so they part ways. However, when Gigi is hurt and in desperate need of protection Stephano steps right in to save the day. Except the only way to really protect her is marriage. So even though it’s something they both don’t want although feelings are growing they agree to marry with the understanding they will not consummate the marriage and that they will divorce. Now of course this doesn’t happen but all the events that lead up to their HEA were just so great and wonderful. I’m eagerly looking forward to the remaining books in this series. Sophia Karlson is such a wonderful storyteller and I’m so sorry that I’ve only read 2 of her books, I definitely have to look into reading her previous books.
