Too stupid for science fiction probably ???

The problem is that like, there are 8 pages total of this book where I stopped understanding what was going on, so I’m marking this whole review as spoilers. But on the one hand, I Intellectually understand what was happening with Rick’s relationship with Rachael, but the amount of...specificity that that section had wrt what was happening in Rick’s mind was unsettling. I don’t think this is bad, but I do think that it’s an almost unneeded beat in the book, not because it is, but simply because it makes me uncomfortable and I’m stupid.

Also WHAT is going on with him fusing with Mercer??? Actually what is going on with Mercer at all???? GOD!!!
