The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

4.0

OK, so I was not expecting that plot twist. This debut by Alex Michaelides is so cleverly written, he has literally spun a spiders Web through this novel and everything connects. The Westworld-esque timeline twist was unexpected and honestly I'm so glad it happened. The clues are all there and it just feels like a mental mind****. Theo Faber is a brilliantly twisted character. It speaks volumes to the evolution of psychiatry and the talking therapies. But then you have Alicia Berenson who you just want to unpick. You want to know exactly what led her to remain silent. The links with the Euripides's Alcestis was just so clever. This was a great start to my September reading list and well worth the hype it gets. Honestly can't wait to read The Maidens.
