Thanks to Netgalley for this arc. I love this authors works and I was surprised that she wrote something that’s not thriller so that intrigued me. I haven’t heard of this tragedy in real life and it really kind of reminds me of back in the 1800’s when all of the Indians were forced to leave out of their homes and to walk what is called the trail of tears and relocate but a lot of loss happened and they couldn’t take anything but the clothes and it was tragic.. this made me emotional right from the storyline of Katrina. This was such a heartfelt story and it’s hard to read. It was beautifully written and I cannot recommend this enough even though historical fiction isn’t my taste but I loved this. Please be aware going in, it has very heavy religious topics so if you don’t like that then this isn’t for you.
