One of the best books I've read all year. Such poiniant explorations of complex societal issues through a magical dark academia setting. This book tackles Sexism, Racism, Colonialism, Meritocracy, and Slavery. There are some deeply flawed characters but their motivations and morals are explored throughout. There was a cool mix of magic and science in this book, heavily influenced by physics. The different levels of society and interactions were sadly reminiscent of some aspects of modern life especially in some places in the world but it was expertly and sensitively written. I highly recommend.
