A thirty something food columnist, Jackie, living the high life as the youngest resident of a Florida retirement community in the house she inherited from her grandmother. Sprinkle with early-bird specials and nights of bingo. A girl with imagination and people of the community have some expectations and her friends want her to be with someone in a relationship.

Lucas college professor-turned-novelist, seasoned heavily with deep, dark secrets sprung from a night of drunken fun that left him changed in ways he doesn't understand. As he gain a potential to drink blood and have allergies with Garlic.

A murder that rocks a quiet community. And joke of Vampire take a serious turn and later finding that humour is author keynote.

The teasing moments between Jackie and Lucas made them feel more real. All of the friends in the neighborhood added so much charm to the story. I am not particularly fond of Veronica, but am holding out to see if my opinion of her changes in future books ,until neither one can deny their growing attraction to each other
