The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
5.0
I can’t believe I’ve never written a review for this book or series!! I’ve been reading The Hunger Game since the year it was released. I actually remember discovering and buying it.
I was 13 years old and I had wandered off to the book section of Walmart while my dad grocery shopped.
I was a rabid reader at this point. I had to have a book to read 24/7 and I had already been given the okay to get a book at the store since I finished my previous one earlier that day. There I was in the Walmart book aisle and I was so disappointed in the choices. I remember picking up THG and thinking it had the ugliest cover. (Which I actually love now, but definitely judged back then.) I did end up getting it bc it didn’t sound terrible and there wasn’t any other options. Boy am I glad I looked past the cover, because 14 years later and this is still one of my favorite trilogies ever.
Suzanne Collins is a genius. I’m not going to say anything new about them, bc you probably already heard everything. They became a cultural phenomenon, but after the last movie came out the hype died down a bit. Until the last few weeks where it exploded over social media again. This made me need to read it again even those I reread them just 2 years ago
