Beartown by Fredrik Backman

slow-paced

4.0

Like other Backman books I’ve read / attempted to read, he favors ‘telling’ over ‘showing’ which does make the content rather dull. It’s very slow-paced. Eventually I realized I was mildly interested, just enough to keep reading … and then it did pick up, in intrigue.

The way an entire town became increasingly divided was actually very well done. Good enough to prompt me to give Backman another chance.

4 stars.
