Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
5.0
Sighh can I just say that I adored this book. Admittedly looking at the ending really spoiled the plot twist so I was all grrr at said character involved in the plot twist for the entire book so I may have missed out on something but I loved it.
I can see the whole Graceling meets The Selection and seeing how I love both series, this book was a must read and very enjoyable. I think I prefer fantasy more when magic is restricted to a singular power because it does make things more interesting and you don't get the whole uber powerful thing as with a single power there is always limitations. And those limitations mean characters need to train harder which...Mare needs to do. She needs to think quicker and learn how to fight without her powers. But other then that she was a realistic character. She was fickle, she had issues with guilt and still cared when things went wrong. She wasn't perfect but who is? And Cal, well Cal definitely made sense. He did want change and he wanted to do the best but he wanted to do so realistically. He gave his emotions too much power though and that was his weak point but he was a great character. Also still shipping Mare/Cal so hard.
I have plenty of other things to say but little thought on how to phrase them right now but this is a must read.
