Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher

5.0

I read that this book was all fluff and no substance, but I argue that it is pretty profound. Maybe it is because I grew up in a messed up family (not Carrie Fisher level messed up) that I can see the profound. One of my favorite lines talk about how people called her a survivor and she hated it. She painted a picture of chaos then showed us how she navigated it. Sometimes she was successful and sometimes she was a mess. I read the book in 1 setting and just couldn't put it down. Her witt comes through and somehow you leave the book understanding her choices, but not feeling sorry for her. Mental illness is oftentimes hidden and Carrie Fisher laid it all out for us, no shame, just point of fact. She is who she is and she is amazing.
