A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

I honestly don’t know why I took so long to read this one. I am so glad I decided to pick it up though. I enjoyed it immensely.
Harper was my absolute fav, and might just be one of my all time favorite characters. I LIVE for strong disabled characters. Harper has cerebral palsy and because of this she has a severe-ish limp. Often in the book when people would take her for weak because of the limp, she would turn around and prove them wrong. People constantly underestimated her (even her own brother) but she continued to fight and be strong. I also love that she wasn’t ashamed of her disability. There’s even a part in the book when the enchantress, Lilith, offers to ‘fix’ her and she fights back by saying that she isn't’ broken. We LOVE a strong disabled woman!
I also adore the beauty and the beast moments when the beast inevitably falls for the beauty long before the beauty falls for the beast. I honestly love that kind of trope so much.
I find Grey to be endlessly fascinating and I am very excited to see where that plot twist from the end of the story goes. I hope Grey doesn’t become a character I dislike, but I can see where that is a possibility.
Rhen’s POV kind of broke my heart. I know he was not a great guy in the beginning, but the curse really has changed him. Like with any character like Rhen, there are moments when I just wanted to throttle him, but overall, I really enjoyed his character.
I really really enjoyed the double POV in this novel. I haven’t read one in a while where the two MCs were mostly in the same place throughout the story. I love being able to learn about each of them from the others perspective. If that makes any sense at all.
You know a book is amazing when you stop halfway through just long enough to place the sequel on hold at the library! I can’t wait to get my hand of A Heart So Fierce and Broken.
