Wow, this book absolutely blew me away. Christina Lauren books just really have a way of capturing what it feels like to fall in love and be in love better than any other author I've read, and every time they describe the connection between two people, it hits me in the solar plexus. It's hard to pick a favorite because I adored The True Love Experiment SO much, but this might be my new favorite. I devoured it in a matter of hours, eager to see what happened with Macy and Elliot. Parallel timelines are hard to do well, especially when the earlier timeline is building to a mystery event, but here it felt natural and deep and beautiful. This book really delves into how being really known by someone is terrifying but also can set you free to live a life of meaning and joy, and how life takes twists and turns that we can never anticipate. Macy's perspective and narrative are so moving; she has suffered so much, and the way she responds makes so much sense, even if it makes you so sad for her. Ugh, this book really is everything.
Be warned, this book will make you absolutely sob - I took a selfie at the exact moment I broke into tears, lol - but it's a cathartic sob for sure.
