Death by Laura Thalassa
5.0
The amount of tears I shed during Part II was severe 🤧
Bawling my eyes out as I read this to help me sleep *scoff* I woke up with tear stained cheeks and red ass eyeballs HAHAHA 💀
I laughed, I cried (I really did), I was nervous and also excited.
Avoiding this book like the plague (pun not intended), I was really hesitant to start this after disliking Famine but this was so so SO worth it 👌🏼
The final book of The Four Horsemen starting with Lazarus watching her people die around her, she finds Death travelling on the main road and vows to stop his wold ending plans. Unable to die (it's explained later in the book), Lazarus and Death quickly start a messed up game where one tries to stop / kill the other and by the end of their game, Death is up 3-2 😅 though tbh the last one was an accident lol

“I was so intrigued at the thought of being your captive, Laz, I almost stayed put,” Death whispers against my ear. “But I have work to do.”
I stiffen at the sound of his voice, panic flooding my veins. He’s broken free.
“Maybe next time,” he adds, “you can be my captive.”
“Thanat—”
Just as I’m turning to face him, my hand reaching for my weapon, Death’s hands find either side of my face.
He twists my neck violently and— Snap.
The entire story of Death happening over an entire year or so, after Pestilence, War and Famine try to stop Death from ending humanity, Lazarus unexpectedly comes across a crying baby in a town full of dead bodies and escapes to raise him (this is where I cried lol)
After sometime when Death refuses to heal her son 😭 Lazarus seeks out Pestilence, War and Famine where they strike a bargain to save her son; sending bb Ben to live with their children and wives, Lazarus goes back to Death and tries to sway him to save humanity.
“Months I have searched for you,” he says.
Despite myself, my gaze is drawn back to him. Death’s dark eyes are fevered.
“You stopped coming for me,” he accuses.
I don’t have an answer for him. He wants to talk about something that feels like a lifetime ago.
Honestly, I really thought Death going to end differently and each and every time something happened to War 💔 I was ready to stop reading HAHA but they were all fine at the end (thankfully!)
The epilogue was adorable and sad AF but my favourite part of the entire book would have to be when they were returning home and heard kids laughing up ahead and War just smiles and says "my girls" 💘 leave it to the most blood thirsty and battle hungry horseman to be a girl dad of four 💘
I hear one of the women whoop. “They did it! Pussy power for the win!” I hear someone cackle.
Great series, no regrets!
*maybe Famine lol*
