A modern day gothic with a slight witchy vibe: I enjoyed this book. Did I find elements of it predictable? Yes. There were some things which felt expected, right from the start. However, there were a lot of things which I didn't expect to happen.

There were a few unanswered questions which I will leave out of this review to avoid spoilers but overall I was satisfied.

The standout for me was Toon's a fantastic ability at creating a character, almost, from the setting. The woods and the village were as much of the plot as any of the characters were and this added to the sense of mystery and gothic intrigue.
