The Initial Insult by Mindy McGinnis

5.0

'I've got things to do, like find out what happened to my parents seven years ago.
And for that, I need manacles.'

A propulsive YA thriller inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe. In the basement, Tress slowly entombs her former BFF, Felicity, behind a brick wall. Above them, a panther prowls the perimeter of a Halloween party. There is so much tension and such a sense of urgency! That ending left me with my mouth open and scrambling to grab the second book in the duology.

'The average brick is two inches tall. Felicity is five foot five. How many bricks will it take for her former best friend to seal her into a wall.'
