Poetry Unbound: 50 Poems to Open Your World by Pádraig Ó Tuama
4.0
There's a stretch of absolute bangers here that happens to start and end with bread -- from Margaret Atwood declaring that "All bread must be broken / so it can be shared" to Martín Espada feeding bread to the God of Geese: "bread warm on the table of my truce with the world." I didn't connect with all the poems collected here (though I admire Pádraig's ability to honor each one with his insight) -- but that 40-page stretch (p. 157-197) is just wonderful.
