A Conspiracy of Kings by Megan Whalen Turner

12/6/21:akdirneuc if i think about this book for too long i start to lose it

12/4/2018: This book follows Sophos (oh WISE) as he tries to uhh take his place as King of Sounis filled with brilliant political intrigue and nuanced characters as always. the middle section of the book (in 3rd pov) was *kisses fingers like italian chef* beautiful and engaging but the beginning and end i TRUDGED through. is it because i love gen??? this is a huge possibility.

also i felt like it had A LOT of endings. every 100 pages or so i was lulled into a false sense of security that the book was almost over and in the falling action but every time i was SHOCKED by another event.

overall i think the pov switch was handled in a MUCH less jarring way than it was in the thief. actually as i type that out, i’m only like 40% sure that the thief switched to 3rd at the end. oh well. solid 4 stars.

also this book unlike the others takes place in a pretty concrete period of time bless up
