THIS BOOK!! THE CUTENESS!! THE AUTHENTICITY!! THE LOVE LETTER TO FANDOMS!! THE REPRESENTATION!!
I'm so thankful that @teatunesandtales joined me for a buddy read of this incredible YA contemporary book. Told from two perspectives (Charlie, a Chinese-Australian bisexual YouTube-vlogger-turned-movie-star, and Taylor, a plus-sized neurodivergent fangirl with anxiety and Asperger’s), the book follows their adventures at a comic con. It featured some of the most BEAUTIFUL, authentic prose about bi-erasure, toxic relationships, supportive friends, neurodiversity, anxiety, fat-shaming, and more.
The romances were super-duper sweet and I loved being able to escape into a comic con setting (the second picture is a throwback to when we hosted a PopUp Library at a con several years ago). Jamie (Taylor's love interest) was the best boyfriend I've seen in a book to date and I loved the little friendships every character developed along the way. Definitely a Top 3 YA contemporary for me
