Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
5.0
I went into this book with not-so-high expectations, I thought it sounded a bit too teenage for me and like the characters could annoy me, but then I started reading it....and I fell in love!
Yes, occasionally Cather did annoy me, the way she stopped herself from doing things all the time, got in the way of her own happiness and worried too much, but I was annoyed because I wanted her to be happy, I was annoyed in the way you would be annoyed with your best friend if they kept sabotaging their life in the same way.
My favourite character in the book had to be Levi, the first time he insisted he walk her to and from the library he stole my heart!
Tall, sweet blondes are my weakness (just ask my boyfriend) so this guy was a dream come true!
Some people have said they could have done without the Simon Snow parts, but I definitely thought they played their part and I enjoyed finding out stuff about the world Cather was so obsessed with.
We can all identify with being a fangirl for something (my weakness is the TV show Supernatural, Destiel FTW) so their part of the story really endeared her character to me.
The ending was a bit abrupt for me, I felt like I wasn't ready to let the characters go yet, but that's my own issue, I think I'd have felt that way if the book was 3000 pages long!
All in all, a fantastic book, with some laugh-out-loud lines and great characters.
