Pass Interference by Emerson Beckett, Rheland Richmond

4.0

This begins with so much longing and heartbreak as we get the back story of Marcus and Aidan. I knew I wanted this story when Marcus confessed what he had lost to Alex as a cautionary tale to him in The Quarterback Keeper. It was clear Marcus was tortured by it, and even though it had been his doing, his heart never recovered. Even when he tried to move on, it was only Aidan he wanted.

Aidan has never been able to let go of the man who broke his heart, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to just let Marcus saunter back into his life. No matter how much his heart wants him back he needs to be sure he’s here to stay.

But maybe, just maybe, things happen for a reason, and this was what needed to happen for them to find their happy ever after of white picket fences, dogs, and kids.

Though this starts with the 10 years of hurt and longing, the book itself is uplifting, if not a little sappy. And if you’ve read Book 1 then you’ll really enjoy that you get to see a lot of Alex and Christian and get a glimpse of where their relationship goes.
