On the whole, I really enjoyed this story. It was a unique fantasy setting with an exciting Watson and Holmes Duo in our main characters. Everything about this world was really unlike anything else I've read. From the language that he uses, to the mystery we're trying to solve, to the setting with these leviathans and walls, it was very immersive and exciting to read.
That being said, readers should know that this is not a light fantasy read. This is one that's going to take a little bit of concentration. I was reading the physical book and listening to the audiobook at the same time, and I found that when I was only doing the audio I was becoming lost. I couldn't do another task and listen to the audiobook at the same time. I would always find myself backtracking to fully understand what had just happened, especially as the mystery becomes more complicated, more murders happen, and more suspects come on the scene.
Therefore, I read this book fairly slowly for my pace, and I felt that It was worth it in the end. It's not going to be a light fluffy mystery. This is going to be a world that will take a little bit of work but the work is worth it. I will be reading the next one in the series and I look forward to it in this next year.
