The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
4.0
What can I say? I have struggled to read and finish books my whole life. This is the longest book I have read so far. I feel very proud I got through this book and, oh my, was it worth it.
Here is some main points I got from reading:
•Vin is an incredible character, the way she deals with loss and abandonment. I know people who have been abused like her brother abused her. Her reaction to loving him even though he was abusive is very real...
•Kelsier was just one of those super fun and loving characters. I couldn't say I expected his plan exactly, but I did suspect that he was planning everything to happen from the beginning. Does not mean I enjoyed it any less of course. So, when he died it was heartbreaking...especially with how my girl Vin reacted...
•The romance wasn't something to rave about, like most people say. But, I can't lie, I was rooting for them. Maybe it was my love for Vin and wanting her to be happy. The scene with Elend coming back for her was slightly cringey and not the romantic realization I was looking for. However, I still enjoyed the romance part, purely for the fact that the characters are happy about it. Not to mention the start of it was nice with the flirting and such, very cute.
•The amount of unanswered questions makes me so excited to read more. I felt this was a somewhat simple setup for a complex storyline and world building. That's what made it so compelling for me to keep going.
