Jade War by Fonda Lee

5.0

Punch after punch after punch after punch. This book absolutely rips. I think I'm rating it 4 out of 5 mostly because of the anxiety and tension I feel at all times in this world. While there are tender moment, it never feels like the Kaul family is really navigating to safer waters.

I'm a major fan of the level of deception displayed by the myriad interwoven power brokers. I'm also a fan of how Fonda Lee took an insular urban fantasy and exploded it into a globalized story that isn't overambitious in it's scope. I also enjoy that, while the world Lee builds is novel, the cultures and disputes reflect issues we're facing today. I think this makes humanizes the stakes characters are navigating and makes the story more relatable.

Pumped for the last installment!
