Master of Salt & Bones by Keri Lake
5.0
This was on my “want to read” list for so long. I’m so glad I finally caved and picked it up. It’s twisted how much I really enjoyed this one.
This is the story of a girl who wants to do something with herself in a small town. A town where she is the daughter of a whore. Which then entails she too is a whore. Her Aunt Midge drops her off at her new employer, the Blackthorn family. She is to be the paid companion to the matriarch, Laura, whom is Luciens mother.
This one struck a cord of dark and twisted fantasies. Deranged fathers on both sides. Mothers with demons on both sides. A tender loving aunt, and “valet” who gives his entire life to be at the beck and call for the Blackthorn family.
Lucien and Isa’s romance is built with fire. It’s delicate and fragile and it builds in to something you don’t want to let go. You can really dig your nails in to it.
