I am convinced that author can write just about anything and I'll enjoy it. This story was certainly way out of her usual dark and dangerous writing, but no less entertaining and intriguing. It was definitely a rom-com! One that had me laughing and crying at the same time. Who cries with rom-coms?!?! Apparently I do. Sadie and Jack were once a thing in college and then he left her high and dry during spring break. There were no labels assigned to their relationship (or lack thereof), but it left Sadie with all kinds of emotional baggage. Her first encounter with him after 8 years left a lot to be desired. Think your worst nightmare and double it. But then add on a case of I've never met you before. From the get-go, I was laughing at Sadie and her BFF Emily, Sadie's boss Jo and her unconventional woo woo-ness (not to mention her woeful ex stories). Then there was Jack and his own personal cross, convinced that he had no right to happiness. While this story was mostly rom-com, there was also some grief and needing to let go and live. So yeah, I laughed and cried and got my first five star read of the year with this book.
