Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld

4.0

Has any book ever dealt with pooping after spending the night with a new partner so realistically? For that alone, this book gets an extra star. Sittenfeld’s writing is always engaging, and as someone who was basically addicted to SNL and wanted to be a writer for them from middle school to grad school, this book was so satisfying. She really knew her stuff setting up the TNO storyline. I personally am sick of covid stories—I know it happened and we probably can’t avoid it, but still, I haven’t seen it used too well (lookin’ at you, Jodi Picoult). It’s not bad here, but I think Sittenfeld relied on it too heavily to progress the storyline. Overall a good book though, I’d probably read it again in a year or two just for quick enjoyment.
