this was really excellent.  sort of dorothy sayers/pd james-ish. i did not guess the ending but i did have a lot of theories and i had sort of speculated along the lines of some of the revelations at the end. very satisfying, very atmospheric. and the fact that this is 10 years after college so they are in their early 30s, it's not too late for them to have the life that got put on hold. 

after i got to the end i reread the chapter where

jem and nicky first got together

and it read completely differently the second time through. both readings totally reasonable but totally changed, just like jem's perspective on those years had to totally change. *chef's kiss*
