This book is for you if you…
-listen to Pod Save America
-want more diverse, leftist candidates to succeed
-think election night is more thrilling than the super bowl
-(… & by 11:30pm know as much about a random county in Georgia as Nate Silver)
-know who Nate Silver is, actually. And follow him.
-have some 2016 election trauma that you’d like to work through in a comforting, queer, high school book.

I adored this book. One of my favorites I’ve read this year. As someone who loves politics for what they can be (not necessarily what they are), this book made me feel empowered and inspired and determined, it filled me with hope of what politics can do when the good people are fighting for positive change. I thought the main character, Mark, was great — he was smart and caring and had a few lessons to learn, sure, but that just makes for good character growth :)

The representation in this book is also great — Mark is trans and pan. The side characters are mostly queer, including ace, aro, lesbian, non-binary, and gay. The main pairing is mlm and there’s a background sapphic pairing.
