wow, Carissa Broadbent does it again.
Just like in her War of Lost Hearts series, whenever I thought I had figured out the villains and plot twists, it felt like she grabbed my face and turned it 5cm to the side ๐
I'm there going I knew it! but for a good chunk of the book I was looking at the person right next to them HAHAHA
This photo is honestly me in all her books ๐
But long story shortโThe Serpent and the Wings of Night is an awesome read! I would recommend it to everyone โบ๏ธ

From the TSatWoN itself, this is what the entire book is aboutโ
Set in a blood thirsty world of predators, vampires from across Obitraes would travel to participate in the Kejari โ๏ธ , drawn by the promise of wealth or honor. Dozens of the most powerful warriors from all three housesโthe House of Night, the House of Shadow, and the House of Bloodโwould die in pursuit of this title. And most likely, so would I.
(...)
A savage tournament of five trials over four months, resulting in only one winner, and granting the most precious prize the world has ever known: a single gift from the Goddess Nyaxia ๐ herself.
So think... The Hunger Games mixed with the Flesh and Fire ambience *PLUS* a really fleshed out Rise of the Kraken vibe ANDDDD a twist on Greek Mythology but it's all โจ VAMPIRES โจ
*a very casual and loose term of the word plus*
The king did not know then that his greatest love would also be his ruinationโnor that either would come in the form of a tiny, helpless human child.
I honestly fell in love with this book before it even started lol the frkn Contents page had me on the edge of my seat ๐ it was definitely love at first sight! I mean LOOK AT IT:
I. Dusk
II. Full Moon
III. Waning Moon
IV. Half Moon
V. Crescent Moon
VI. New Moon
VII. Night
The chapters were set at a really good pace imo and I never felt like TSatWoN was slowing down or being dragged out, not even during the Interlude (flashback) chapters ๐๐ป
tbh I'm really fucking glad that the world building / information wasn't made out like a certain Maiden ๐ who'd ask a question and get "That was a random question" in response... ( ๐ฐ๐ปโโ๏ธ + ๐บ = me ๐ช๐ช๐ช )
โNyaxia, Mother of Ravenous Dark, Womb of Night, of Shadow, of Blood. I give you Oraya of the Nightborn. She is the daughter my heart gave me, just as my heart made me your son. Her presence in the Kejari is the greatest gift I will ever offer you.โ Perhaps I imagined that his voice had thickened, ever-so-slightly. โSave, perhaps, for her victory.โ
Absolutely ZERO COMPLAINTS with this book ๐ keen for the rest of the series *happy dance*
