I loved it! A contemporary book with a classic feel and slight gothic touches. Unique, intriguing storyline with unexpected twists, and excellent writing style. I also loved all the references to other classic literature. In some parts it slowed down, but it always picked up wonderfully.

Nevertheless, for me, it is closer to 4 stars than 5 because I didn't appreciate some of the sentiments that I disagree with the author and I felt were unnecessary to the story.

Other than that, I love this book for its truly brilliant plot and the beautiful writing. This book has many quotes to mark.

I'm looking forward to starting the next one in the series: The Angel's Game.
