Light Bringer by Pierce Brown

5.0

I am still wrecked, gutted and in awe even though its been multiple days since I finished Light Bringer. MAXIMUM PAIN.

Brown brings the banter, soft moments and destruction of the original trilogy into the sixth book of the series and this stands out as my favourite.

I don't think there's a way to really review this without spoilers, so here are some favourite quotes without context:

"I want to puke fire."

"Then protect me from the giants, and I'll protect you from the wolves"

"War has never looked so glamorous, nor so tidy."

"But war is a game of double down. Once it starts, if you flinch, it's all for nothing."

"I will fix what is broken. But I must break what no longer works."

"We are medieval. We are grotesque."

I am both ready and not for the final culmination of the Red Rising Saga in Red God. Please don't make us wait years again, but I will wait as long as you need if you'll give us something like Light Bringer again.

More cohesive review likely to come... maybe not.
