Over My Dead Body by Sweeney Boo
4.0
The perfect autumn book. Witches, impeccable aesthetic, incredible artwork and a compelling story.
Although the plot ends with a bit of a chaotic but satisfying ending, the true star here is the artwork. From that very cover and its stunning design to every single page. The use of colour is magnificent and the aesthetic is so, so pleasing. I loved how it was a conclusive story and even if it's not the most innovative or surprising plot, instead being quite predictable, I still found myself devouring page after page until I got to the very end.
A timeless witchy book to read every Halloween.
Also, the production value of this book is astonishing. The full colour pages, with its incredible palette (translating this book to CMYK and printing it must have been a nightmare) and the quality of the paper, the chapter illustrations, the endpapers, every single aspect of the book design and production is incredible and for a great price (all that ink! Amazing). The only thing that bothers me is that we didn't get gold foil on the cover (at least on the paperback edition I have), which seems like a missed opportunity in my opinion.
