The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth
5.0
I want to start by saying this book was fantastic in the way that mental health was covered. Ms Hepworth thoroughly researched and portrayed the condition written about in a fair way. I knew the ultimate diagnosis of Gabe long before it was revealed, because it is an illness that I personally live with. I am not as extreme of a case as Gabe, but it was easy for me to recognize it very quickly. I normally hate the way people with this illness are portrayed, mostly it’s as monsters and unstable people. Rarely do you see where the person gets help, and can live a full life. Know help us out there and available to those who need it.
Now onto the story. Gabe and Pippa moved to a house with a cliff side, known as suicide point, and since living there Gabe has saved 6 lives - but unfortunately the 7th is lost. Whole the death is ruled a suicide, Pippa is troubled with what she saw that night - it didn’t look like to her that the woman jumped. Pippa works tirelessly to uncover and grapple with what she saw. The husband of the wife who jumped doesn’t believe it was suicide either but he and Pippa have a sordid past. Will Pippa be able to uncover the truth before her family is placed in danger?
I loved this book because I related so hard to Gabe, Pippa’s husband. The book overall was fantastic and written very well. The characters were well developed and the twist was quite entertaining and enjoyable. I give this book 4.5 rounded up to 5. I can’t wait for you to read this book when it’s published next April 4th. Huge thanks to @netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy. Please add this to your tbr! You won’t be disappointed.
