Alone with You by Aly Martinez
5.0
Well damn....I think Aly broke me.
I don't even have the words to describe this book. This book is beautiful but yet heartbreaking. You go on a grief journey with two people who handled tragedy very differently. We see growth and healing within these two characters that will break you and put you back together.
Truett and Gwen are the definition of soulmates. However, they divorced after tragedy struck and fate has brought them back together 18 years later.
When I say my heart broke for this book it was completely shattered. While Gwen went through a lot of the same things Truett did the way Truett handled everything will absolutely shatter your heart. My god this man broke me and I just wanted to help piece him back together.
Gwen was strong despite everything she has gone through. I really loved her character. When she realized what all Truett was still holding onto with his grief and how he was still “stuck” she helped him to heal and get the help he needed while still showing him that she loved him and wanted to move forward with him and their relationship. This book truly showcased the ups and downs of grief and how individuals handle things differently without anyone truly knowing what they are going through/doing.
There is so much more I want to say about this book but at the same time I do not want to give away much with this book. This book is worth reading. If you enjoyed the Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros…read this book. But be aware of trigger warnings.
Thank you to Aly and The Author Agency for the ARC of this book.
