Crimson Aria by Fyra B Ginn

5.0

After the bus they were on explodes, five high school kids find they have been endowed with the abilities of mythical creatures. Ann, a red phoenix, is a foster child and unsure how she is going to make the challenging decisions in front of her alone. Who can she trust?

This is the first installment of the Phoenix Chronicles and is set in the Omega Fire Universe. This is a YA-NA book but I would put it more new adult as some of the themes are on the more mature end. The artwork shown in the beginning of the book is from the author’s partner to showcase his contributions.

This is the author’s debut novel and is independently published. When the author and I matched on @socialcat I was so excited to read this story! I love a good origin story and this one did not disappoint.

The book was well paced and sucked me in from the beginning. The story was fascinating. I really enjoyed the mix of character growth and mythological themes. I think many fantasy readers will enjoy this one, it is not high fantasy, I’d say more low fantasy, and it was so fun. While the main character Ann was great, so were all the other characters. Each of the five kids in the accident were well developed and worked well together. The writing was fantastic and flowed effortlessly making it an easy read.

Thank you so much to the author @Fyra_B_Ginn and @social cat for this copy in exchange for an honest review. I look forward to reading more of your work!
