Haunted Ecologies by Corey Farrenkopf

adventurous dark mysterious reflective medium-paced
A beautiful collection of nature themed short stories. All stories have an ecological twist of horror, coupled with the prevalent message of overconsumption, climate change, human pollution, etc.

Growing up on the south shore of Massachusetts, I loved the New England setting of these stories. It was comforting to see towns on the Cape. I felt like I could smell these stories, the familiar ocean breeze I grew up with.

Some of my favorite stories were:
Growth & Decay - Wren collects botanical specimen from the forest and one day the forest approaches her with a proposition.
The Tap, Tap, Tap of a Beak - "The number of men who prefer to horde bones rather than protect life is alarming."
