That was quite literally a waste of time, but I have trouble DNFing books. Every “twist” was completely predictable. Kiva is literally the most ignorant and naive FMC I’ve read in a LONG time. Like, why do you think your hardcore rebel sister would be okay with you choosing to side with the royals and say it’s all good? A cause she has spent her entire life working toward? Idiot. AND if you’re not with the rebels why are you meeting up with them and giving them information? Idiot. Also, where is the love triangle that seemed apparent & was definitely scratched last minute in editing? Look, if you’re new to fantasy and are a YA reader this may be a book you’ll enjoy. But I am NOT picking up another YA fantasy for a very long time.
