Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
5.0
I had absolutely no interest in being somebody else's muse.
I am not a muse.
I am the somebody.
if i'm being honest, i did not have the highest hopes for this book and yet it was amazing.
i was in a huge slump after the seven husbands of evelyn hugo (taylor jenkins reid, you are doing something to me) and this book got me out of it so fast. the fact that it includes such a wide variety of perspectives is really cool - i love that it was formatted in a way that got you to understand everyone's POV but not get tired of them fast.

also, i love that julia is the one who writes the biography. i feel like this as well as that little insert of the conversation between her and daisy where she recalls something daisy tells her about just make the book that much more personal.the plot was so easy to follow and even though the book was literally a compilation of interviews, there are so many good quotes in there. a lot of the main themes/issues and the ways in which they were talked about really resonated with me.
No amount of advice or lectures or trying to chain somebody down ever stopped anyone who didn’t want to stop in the first place.
at this point, i will read literally anything taylor jenkins reid writes.
coming back like 2 seconds later to edit this because i forgot to mention something - am i the only one who really (like, REALLY) wanted to actually listen to these songs? the way the songwriting and producing processes are described is so detailed and captivating and i just genuinely am sad because these songs and concerts and album photoshoots don't exist.
