Wicked Games by Maureen Smith
5.0
OMG!!! Where has this book been all my life?!
I stumbled upon this book through a search on Amazon and I must say that this ws the best purchase I could have made!
Hockey phenomenon, Reid Holden is a superstar hockey player that doesn't like talking to the press. labeled the consummate bachelor and playboy, Reid's whole life comes to a pause when he locks eyes with a beautiful woman at one of his hockey practices. The woman happens to be the brother of a sports reporter and Redi, who has openly shunned the press, agrees to give a quote to the young sports reporter... if he will introduce him to the mystery woman who just happens to be the reporter's sister.
Nadia, a regular-degular career woman refuses to date athletes. So imagine her surprise when she feels an instant attraction to the hockey superstar. Reid begins to pursue Nadia relentlessly as she is starting to fall hard for the defensive linesman. But will their blossoming relationship stand the constant pressure of "away games" and persistent "puck bunnies" on the road to their happily ever after?
“WICKED GAMES is a charming interracial romance story about a smitten, successful millionaire sports star who immediately falls first for the "Plain Jane" on sight. I love the romantic ways Reid pursued Nadia and how charming and swoon worthy he was towards her. Maureen Smith did an excellent job of showing the cultural and societal differences and difficulties with interracial dating without it dominating the plot. It was just enough not to be too much and the secondary conflict of the differences in their race actually made the story richer and more realistic was a steamy read that will give you a heavy dose of spice with so heaping dollop of romance. As you watch their relationship unfold, you’ll develop warm, cozy feelings in the pit of your stomach whenever Reid declares his feelings for Nadia. Prepare to dab your eyes with tissues as you clutch your heart and sigh, ‘Aww...’
