BUT DAMN ! This is truly one of the most original fantasies I have read this year. There is a whole world with unique concepts to get lost into.
The book was very subtle but somehow still very epic, there aren't much action scenes but it still gripped me. The characters had such depth. We have 4 different pov's and I enjoyed them all.
But I have to say my favorite are definitely Serapio and Xiala. I mean a shy blind man who can kill anyone in a second and bisexual pirate captain who ALSO happens to be a Siren ! What could go wrong with it?
The other two pov's had more to do with politics and it too was quite interesting.
I also loved how Serapio is so morally grey. You don't know if he is a hero or villain but you'll love him nevertheless.

"My fucking eye!" she cried stumbling to her feet.
"You tried to tear out my fucking eye!"
"I didn't succeed?"
"Fuck you!"
